Hiring for NEKLS Tutorial Program
The Tutorial Program at NEKLS is a great way for current, former, and future educators to be involved in their community. Since tutorials come in all shapes with regard to time commitment per week and duration, they offer experienced and new teachers flexible scheduling. Tutorials are staffed on an as- needed basis.
Tutorials are typically requested by local schools for students whose needs are difficult to meet in the regular classroom. This need for tutorial services could be due to medical, behavioral or other educational reasons. Occasionally, we also serve families directly.
Often times, tutorials last a few weeks to a semester, rarely the entire school year. Depending on the number of subject areas to be covered, they can take from an hour a week to ten hours. Tutors meet students either at their school, in a public location (library, municipal buildings), or at the NEKLS learning center.
To become a tutor, interested parties should submit their resume with a cover letter and three current references. We will meet with qualified and interested individuals for an interview. Candidates then complete NEKLS’s employment paperwork and undergo a background check. Upon completion of all employment requirements, tutors will be matched with students as the need arises.
